Accommodation
Southern Sands Eco Lodge offers tented accommodation on the banks of the Olifants River within the Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, a furnished deck area overlooking the river, and a fire pit. The tents also include a fully equipped outdoor kitchenette and are set apart to offer privacy for each guest.
Amenities & Facilities
The lodge has two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is an infinity pool with a view and a shallow end. Sun loungers, beach chairs, and sun umbrellas are available at both pools. Additional facilities include billiards, a shared kitchen, BBQ facilities, a garden, an outdoor fireplace, picnic area, and a sun terrace.
Dining & Self-Catering
Southern Sands Eco Lodge is primarily self-catering, with private braai areas and outdoor kitchens in each tent, plus a shared kitchen in the communal area. On advance request, the lodge can provide meal options such as traditional South African braais or vegetarian-friendly dishes, subject to availability. Guests can enjoy wine or champagne from their own supply, as no on-site restaurant is available.
Activities & Wildlife
The Ndlovumzi Nature Reserve is home to giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and several antelope species, viewable on self-drives, guided walks, or cycling routes. Guests can book guided game drives on the 1000-hectare reserve in an open game drive vehicle, or arrange organized tours into Kruger National Park and along the Panorama Route. Running, walking, and cycling are possible on the reserve, and walking tours are offered by the lodge.
Family & Kids
The fenced-in lodge area creates a safe open space for children to play and explore while parents relax. A dedicated splash pool is available for younger guests, separate from the main swimming pools. Family rooms are offered, and the private tent setup with outdoor kitchenette makes self-catering easy for families.
